Macintosh and PC media playing software, freely available from Apple and intended chiefly for playing video and audio files. Quicktime 7, released in May 2005 is the latest release and includes the h.264 codec, a variant on mpeg4 which can produce video files of stunning quality at relatively low data rates.
Quicktime is regarded as the format of choice for posting videos on Antville.
